The value of a pause

Movement needs somewhere to arrive

An interface that never rests gives every element the same emphasis. We start by identifying the moment a person needs to understand, then design motion around that moment. A short transition can make a relationship clear; a pause lets that relationship register.

Design the resting state first

Before opening a timeline, make the still composition work. Read the heading. Find the next action. Check the image crop. If those things need movement to become understandable, the underlying layout needs another pass.

Keep a practical motion budget

Choose one signature sequence per story. Let smaller transitions support it, and give reduced-motion visitors an equally complete experience. Good motion reveals the structure of the work without making people wait for it.
